The offices for General Motors are an 875 m2 project located in Quito, Ecuador, the concept we used is “CASA TECH” the same that was used in Bogota, since the client wanted to maintain uniformity and equality between the headquarters around the world, the intention is to make people who return to the offices feel at home during the course of the week, with some characteristic accents of the brand representative of technology and innovation. The color palette used in the project are gray, blue and earth tones that are combined with wood, metal structures and carpets that give harmony to the space.
It is distributed in the IBM building, on the first floor, where the open office space predominates towards the ends, the directors and managers’ offices are on the facade, and towards the center of the project there are technical rooms and rooms, and some collaborative spaces (bleachers), support spaces such as copy points, and transition spaces, it also has a main cafeteria which has a covered area and another one outdoors; This cafeteria will be shared with the Chevyplan offices. There are several formal and informal meeting rooms as well as phonebooths.
The main challenges we faced when designing General Motors Quito were very similar to Bogota in terms of delivery times, being a fast track project the deliveries are fast, the specifications and requirements we must ensure them in stock and be very assertive when making decisions on look and finishes. Another challenge was to adapt the existing design to the new space, keeping the same finishes, but without leaving behind the innovation in the design, since the client wanted a replica of what was in Bogota; thus achieving a design with the same guidelines of Bogota, but with an identity and belonging to the implanted place.
